Buildings require energy for lighting, thermal comfort, data processing, and other user services. In this process, they end up using approximately 50% of all electricity in Brazil. To evaluate and implement measures that improve building performance, a methodological framework is needed that can assess both user satisfaction and energy performance.
In partnership with CBCS and Procel Edifica, and with financial support from the British Embassy, this project developed advanced techniques for assessing building performance and implemented them in Brazil. Partnerships with Arup and CarbonDescent brought knowledge and technology from the United Kingdom, which were adapted to the Brazilian reality by Mitsidi.
Mitsidi led the development and implementation of the project. Our team of experts performed a series of services that led to the creation of a knowledge base and infrastructure for building performance in Brazil. This includes:

Procel's national energy efficiency program has adopted the performance of existing buildings as a key principle. Building on Mitsidi's work with CBCS, this project will form the basis for future training sessions, research, publications, and large-scale implementation of energy efficiency programs for existing buildings.
